Back to School Down Under

Aug 21. 2017

Starting a new life in Australia is a big step to take and every aspect of the relocation requires in-depth planning. It can be a particularly big upheaval if you’re moving with children and need to factor in their change in schooling.

We’ve had the pleasure of moving numerous families to all parts of Australia over the last 35 years and appreciate that for many families choosing a new school for their children is of prime importance. Australia has both state and independent schools and often has move competitively priced independent schools than the UK.

It is worth bearing in mind that most private schools in Australia are faith schools. Your child does not need to be of that particular faith to join, but you would of course need to be happy with your child partaking in the religious ethos of the school.

Independent schools in Australia won’t be limited by catchment area; they are able to accept your child wherever you live but it may be worth considering that many popular schools become full very early on; so factor in the level of demand for the school. Many schools can also offer fairly flexible payment schemes; with either annual payments or payments spread over a monthly or weekly basis.

Once you’ve created a shortlist of schools that meet your requirements, be sure to arrange a viewing of the school as soon as you can once you’ve landed in Australia. No amount of research or the reading of websites can really compare to actually seeing the premises, meeting the teachers and, if possible, seeing classes taking place.

If you would like any further information on the removal process to any part of Australia please visit our dedicated Australian web page or contact one of our advisors on sales@burkebros.co.uk or call 01902 714555. We’d be really happy to talk to you about the relocation process.
