We even have people moving between xmas and New Year and are already busy in the first weeks of January with many clients still trying to get completion dates from solicitors. December has seen many home movers complaining about conveyencing departments that are just not getting dates early enough to give time to prepare for moving. As the market has picked up this along with the usual departures of people emigrating to new countries, we anticipate January being busy. We are starting to see more enquiries from customers wanting to move to France although the pound is still weak against the Euro. Many are just accepting that they will have to pay more for homes in France but are using the climate to drive down the asking price in France in order to get moving. With stamp duty changes along with the increase in vat this has also contributed to the wave of movers that we are experiencing right now. We still expect a slow down after this period and are expecting a quieter February and March as the country continues to try and get out of recession. As a general election is likely to be May 6th we may see many people holding off until we see a new Government and what they offer us all . Regardless of who is in we all know that they will be taking over massive debts.
