Time saving tips when moving home

We all know moving home is one of life’s my stressful events! You might need to move house as quickly as possible due to a tenancy agreement coming to an end or be keen to start your new life in your new home. There are a lot of tasks that need to be completed before you move home and organisation is key, that is why we have compiled a list of quick tips to help you keep in control during your move.

1) Communication
Good communication allows all parties to know exactly where in the moving process they are and can really help to de-stress you. It is really important to keep in touch with your Conveyancing Solicitor and Estate Agent, to ensure they are all prepared for completion day. Remember to inform your Conveyancing Solicitor of anything that may be an issue, no matter how trivial, so they can take the appropriate actions if needed.

2) Ensure all funds are available
Your Conveyancing Solicitor must have all of the necessary funding from you to close on completion day. It is advisable to budget extra for other costs such as changing locks, domestic connections and other fees and charges.

3) Avoid same day exchange and completion
If you are in chain of people moving home then try to avoid exchanging homes on the same day of completion; it can only take one person to have an issue and this can negatively impact the rest of the chain and your move. It is important to note that if you are using Help to Buy Equity Loan the Homes and Communities Agency can take up to one full week to release funds between exchange and completion.

4) Book a professional mover as early as possible
One of the best ways is to reduce your stress on moving day is to book a professional removals company. With many removals services available the absolute best way to ensure you are going to get a professional removals company is to use a British Association of Removers (BAR) accredited company, such as Burke Bros Moving Group, you can search there directory for all listed removers. A removals service will ensure all your belongings are out of your home on time before the next property owners receive the keys and that they are transported to your new home safely. No move is the same so the removals service should be tailored to your needs which may include secure storage and they will be able to offer you the best advice based on your requirements.

5) Pack your belongings in advance
Your removals company should also be available to pack your belongings and should be able to get the job done within a reasonable time, with your own life to lead as well it may take you a lot longer! If you do decide to pack yourself ensure you give yourself a few weeks. Pack all breakables and fragile items carefully protecting them with bubble wrap, or old material. Remember to label all your items in boxes with what room they need to go into your new home – this will help vastly when you come to unpack.
