A Big Year for Forty

Jun 08. 2022

Final training and preparations are underway before the Wolverhampton to Aberdovey charity bike ride next week, in which Gary as Director and trustee of local hospice Compton Care, is cycling to raise funds for the local charity in their 40th year and also to mark Burke Bros Moving Group’s 40th year in business. Meanwhile, a bike ride to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Falklands war started in Cardiff and finishes in Aldershot. The ride is being undertaken by Falklands veterans visiting various relevant places en route including the National Memorial Arboretum and RAF Cosford.
They passed through Wolverhampton today and were given a guard of honour which included Gary as Chairman of Wolverhampton Wheelers Cycling Club and other members of the club in the velodrome at Aldersley stadium.
This was followed by a memorial service followed by 40 laps (approx 11 miles) around the track to commemorate the 40 years, undertaken by various groups including the riders themselves, Wheelers members, riders from RAF Cosford and other groups including penny farthings.
If you would like to support Gary and colleagues fundraising for the Aberdovey bike ride, donations can still be made here.
