A Community of International Movers
How times have changed. Pan American International Movers Association global virtual meeting yesterday with our agents and business associates discussing a number of topics, but primarily; Covid-19 globally, global shipping price increases, global delays at ports, tonnage between members of PAIMA and even the possibility of our convention in the US maybe taking place in October subject to the vaccines and positive global changes as well as restrictions being lifted. Plans A, B and C are being discussed.
It was great to see so many colleagues, albeit virtually from the US, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Canada as well as our European colleagues from Switzerland Germany, Italy and France to name but a few. The meetings continued into the early hours to accommodate colleagues from Singapore, the Far East and New Zealand. In an era when face to face meetings aren’t possible, it’s been important to find other ways to support our colleagues in the international shipping community and continue working together as we collectively navigate these uncertain times.
Of course all of this with no flight costs, no hotel costs and no travelling costs, yet we’ve still maintained dialogue with our agents from more than 30 countries.
We look forward hopefully to a possible convention later in the year, but perhaps future conventions will be a hybrid of physical attendance and meeting by virtual means to help those that want to travel and those who want to attend from an armchair.
