The most recent report from the Notaires de France revealed that the 12 months to the end of September 2017 has seen a record breaking 952,000 property sales completed in France.
Interestingly, this shows a 15% increase in volume of sales in Ile-de-France and a 15.6% increase across the rest of France. Meanwhile, in the French cities (with 150,000 plus inhabitants) excluding Paris there has been a general upward trajectory in the price of apartments. Bordeaux and Nice, in particular, maintain their value per square metre with Bordeaux properties increasing 12.1% per square metre and Nice 2.8% per square metre. Similarly, house prices have witnessed an upward trend with Nantes and Bordeaux seeing house prices spike by 8% and 10%.
Reports have also concluded that British buyers remain the main nationality purchasing property ahead of Belgians and then Italians. Whilst the number of foreign non-resident buyers seemed to be dwindling, this is evidently experiencing a u-turn since 2015.
