This week, Burke Bros Moving Group have been joined by some young recruits as two pupils from local secondary schools completed work experience with the moving and storage company. Sophie Watts and Kyron Pilsbury are in year ten of secondary school and took some time out from their studies to have an introduction into the moving industry.
Sophie is a student at Smestow Academy and has spent the week in a number of departments of the international moving company, having an insight into the fundamentals of the processes that go into moving household effects across the UK and across the world. Helping out with some essential tasks in the Accounts and Sales offices, Sophie has also had the opportunity to spend time in the Marketing department and Transport/Operations department.
Meanwhile, Kyron, a student at Aldersley High School, has had an insight into the warehouse and transport functions of the business; seeing how the warehouse operates and even attended a local house move to Bridgnorth.
Chris Burke commented: “As a company, we’ve been able to welcome a number of students over the years, either though work placements or through graduate schemes to give them experience of the moving industry and encourage them in their first steps into the working world.
We were happy to support the schools by providing these opportunities for their students. The moving industry doesn’t always benefit from having the appealing image that other industry sectors have, but it’s important for the next generation to see that the industry has a number of opportunities in which to carve successful and meaningful careers. We hope Sophie and Kyron have enjoyed their foray into the world of international moving and have benefitted from their experiences with us.”
