Burke Bros Moving Group are excited to have be participating in the some FIDI training courses over the next few weeks. Six staff from our import, export, marketing, accounts and corporate and UK sales departments attended today’s FIDI training course on international cultural awareness. We would like to thank Chantel Fera, from Brussels, who is the FIDI Academy Manager who has been explaining how western and non-western business cultures differ, to teach awareness of behaviors in many countries so to be able to understand and develop better communication and business between customers and overseas agents. Helena Forrest, from marketing, said the course allowed her to see how important cultural awareness is for Burke Bros Moving Group’s branding and messages as an international player.
All six made it on time as the course started 9.00am GMT promptly. It was nice to be joined in the webinar with companies from the other international agents around the world, including De Haans of the Netherlands, Gerson and Grey of Brazil and Arpin International. Josie Turner, from Imports, found that the interactive nature of the course was more appealing than a normal lecture and it was interesting to hear international perspectives.
The benefits are to increase staff competences and to reinforce our company image as a global organisation. Topics covered included recognizing different types of culture, basic understanding of different cultural value, sometimes why differences can hurt effective communication and tips for effective communication. The team members could identify personal values, recognizing others values, understanding stereotypes, respecting others values, communicating effectively avoiding conflict and frustration and cultivating a positive approach towards cultural differences. Emily Taylor, from Corporate Sales, said she is looking forward to the next courses on customer service, sales and insurance over the next coming weeks.
Gary Burke, Managing Director at Burke Bros, said investing in such training is important as an international mover for the staff in the organisation is key to recognise the the importance of understanding and respecting different cultural values will continue to be present during our work with international clients and agents around the world.
