Graduate Stream for Western Australia State Nomination

Mar 28. 2019

For those who are currently studying or are a recent graduate in Western Australia, a change has been made to the visa requirements. The state of Western Australia has released a graduate stream for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) and the Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 489).

The new stream is available to eligible university graduates, who have studied for at least two years in Western Australia at a West Australia university. They must have an available occupation on the new graduate occupation list for the relevant visa subclass.
This new system effectively offers a more extensive list of occupations spanning a wider range of industries from engineering to ICT. Previously, it was certain medical-related professionals that benefited from this type of pathway to skilled migration.

This is also welcome news in light of the additional requirements which stated that the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa (subclass 482) applicants must already have two years of experience. This stipulation caused many to struggle to find a visa pathway after migration.
