There are always reasons to side step a challenge or not make a decision in life. There are also occasions that you meet people in life who are truly inspiring and have a lot to teach us all.
A wonderful gentleman is planning a move from the UK to Central France. He will be reaching his 100th birthday in March and will be moving out of house that has been his home for 60 years.
Amongst his home and the belongings he wants to take to his new property in France, will be the ladders he used to climb into his Lancaster Bomber while serving in the Second World War. He also wants to take his set of golf clubs, which he hasn’t used for 20 years but as he said; ‘you never know.’ Hundreds of paintings will be make the journey as he has been a keen artist throughout his life and his Black and Decker Workmate as it’s still in use.
Because of his age, our Managing Director went to visit him personally and spent hours chatting with him and was very impressed that this gentleman was even telling him how he’d calculated the volume of his home and knew he wanted a ‘van and trailer.’ By the time they’d gone through the home and the customer had decided what he actually wanted to take, the move will require just one 18 tonne furniture van.
It was amazing to hear that he’d remembered seeing us from an early edition of French Property News that he’d kept and was dated 1991. That black and white advert has certainly proven to be worth placing 30 years ago!
We wish him every success in this bold move and were really taken by his story and his decision to embrace the challenge and move to his favourite country in his 100th year.
