Moving Household Effects to Christchurch, New Zealand

Feb 20. 2017

During our years of moving individuals and families out to New Zealand, the city of Christchurch remains a popular destination for many British expats. The city is the largest city in the South Island of New Zealand and is the country’s third most populated urban area with a population of just over 340,000. The shipping of personal and household effects takes between 42 and 44 days to the Port of Lyttleton Harbour.

Christchurch benefits from a range of residential suburbs; all of which offer a number of cafes, shops and schools. The suburb of Cashmere is often considered to have a British feel with large historic homes and tree-lined streets boasting a number of parks and walks. Those wanting to live by the sea, tend to flock to Brighton and Sumner. These areas also have the advantage of being with a 20 minute drive to the central city. Lyttelton is known to have an artistic vibe and strong music scene and is currently undergoing a substantial re-development. Equally, Lincoln is situated a 30 minute drive out of Christchurch and offers a rural lifestyle within a short commute of the city centre.

With so many years of experience we have also developed long-standing relationships with overseas New Zealand agents to ensure every removal is a smooth process. Our experience also equips us with expert knowledge of export packing and the rigours of customs and excise. If you require your household effects to be in storage for a period prior to your move to New Zealand, we also offer excellent storage facilities in the form of either containerised or self-access storage.
