Burke Bros Moving Group are pleased to welcome three new members of staff to their team. Anthony Foy, a well-known name in the industry, is heading up their international division and has been joined by two recruits new to the industry; Kate Saxton and Lara McDonald.
It’s well known amongst the industry that there is a skills shortage and as a result recruitment is proving to be very difficult for many moving companies. Whilst shortages of HGV drivers, for example, have been well documented, there are shortages of staff across the board, so no matter whether it’s an international shipping expert a company is looking for or it’s a leadership role that needs filling- it’s a challenge. Burke Bros Moving Group have decided to develop their own talent by also recruiting from outside the industry, as Gary Burke explains:
“With forty years in the industry, we know what we’re looking for in our staff and what we’ve often found is that it’s the personal qualities that are important, everything else we can teach them. We need people with a desire to succeed, with great communication and customer service skills. As long as they have this mind set we can teach them about the rigours of the industry and this is why we’ve opted to ‘grow our own talent’ and recruit for some of our posts from outside of the industry.”
Kate Saxton’s relocation from Oxford to Wolverhampton enabled her to initially join the company’s Sales Team as Sales Co-ordinator and then, more recently, take on the role of Export and Import Co-ordinator. Meanwhile, Lara McDonald has joined the Sales Department as Sales Co-ordinator.
Gary added: “We look forward to both Anthony and Kate building on the strength of the International department to fulfil our plans as we take a greater focus on international trade work this financial year. We also look forward to Lara enhancing our Sales team and wish them all the very best in their roles.”
