Last week, Chris Burke attended two of the moving industry’s most significant annual gatherings in New York City, the Pan American International Movers Association (PAIMA) Annual Convention and the International Association of Movers (IAM) Annual Meeting and Expo. Both events brought together moving and relocation professionals from around the world to discuss current trends, share expertise and strengthen relationships across the global mobility sector. This article highlights the main moments and takeaways from both conventions, offering a closer look at what made the week so valuable for attendees and the industry alike, in the PAIMA and IAM 2025 convention highlights.
PAIMA Annual Convention Highlights
The PAIMA 2025 Convention, held at the Marriott Marquis Times Square from October 21–23, followed a carefully planned itinerary that balanced networking, education and collaboration.
The itinerary revolved around the General Assembly sessions, working lunches and board meetings, providing a platform for members to discuss association updates and industry priorities. The PAIMA Board gathering allowed our Director to contribute to discussions around strategic planning and initiatives that will continue to strengthen PAIMA’s global network.
One of the highlights of this year’s itinerary was the One-to-One Meeting Program, which allowed attendees to pre-schedule individual meetings to maximise opportunities for personalised networking and business development.
The convention concluded with the Closing Dinner at Virgil’s Real BBQ, where members came together in a relaxed setting to celebrate a successful few days. Conversations over dinner reflected the strong sense of community that defines PAIMA, as well as the shared commitment to professionalism and service excellence across the industry.
IAM Annual Meeting & Expo Highlights
Immediately following PAIMA, the IAM Annual Meeting and Exhibition, also in New York, brought together a broader international audience. The event featured workshops, educational sessions, and exhibitions focused on innovation, sustainability, and technology in the moving industry.
Our Director attended a range of sessions designed to inspire forward-thinking approaches to logistics and customer service. These included workshops on business growth, brand development and operational best practices. The IAM Expo also provided an opportunity to meet suppliers and service partners showcasing the latest solutions in mobility and transportation.
Reflections on the Events
Both conventions provided invaluable opportunities to connect with peers, exchange knowledge and explore future collaborations. For our company, attending these events reinforces the importance of staying engaged with the global moving community and continuing to adapt to new challenges and opportunities.
