Possible industrial actions could disrupt shipping routes to the USA and Canada. While we will provide as much advance notice as possible to our customers, it’s advisable to prepare for potential delays and demurrage costs if containers arrive during a strike. Unfortunately, these situations are beyond our control.
USA Update: East Coast and Gulf dockworkers are scheduled to meet next month to discuss a strike, which could impact six out of the ten busiest U.S. ports. Labor negotiations have stalled, making a strike on October 1st increasingly likely.
Canada Update: The Canadian Industrial Labour Board has cleared the way for a potential rail strike by August 22nd. Negotiations between railroads and workers have made little progress, with the union preparing for a possible work stoppage.
