Ola Lawal is the son of Ismail Lawal, owner of IAL, the largest moving organisation in Nigeria . After completing his law degree and as promised two years before, Ola is spending 12 months at Burke Bros learning the UK way of running an overseas moving company. We devised a programme for Ola taking into account all aspects of our Company. After an induction he spent a month on the vans learning handling packing wrapping. Then went into operations learning scheduling warehousing progress chasing and general admin. International sales, customer and supply liaison, shipping rates, costings, documentation. Support functions were next human resources, quality control insurance claims credit control accounts. Next will be general sales, European, and some estimating. Then back to more thorough operations then marketing finishing back into international import, export, including airfreight. Along the way he has just completed his FCRM taking his exam in March. He will have completed his 12 months this summer supposedly going to Lagos helping bond the business relationship we have with IAL.

As a company we are looking to develop relationships with our overseas colleagues and to develop graduates to find the people of tomorrow to help take out company forward. Young Business managers of the future can complete a two year programme involving a full apprenticeship at Burke Bros, including external courses involving BAR examinations.

We currently have seven staff members taking FRCM to start with and have got 2 more younger people from our agents from tow other continents lined up for later in the year.
