‘Twas the Night Before Moving
By the time you reach the night before your house move is due to take place, everything will, essentially, be in place. There are, however, a few things that can be factored in during the evening prior to the move; which will help ensure the day itself goes a little more smoothly and avoid a sleepless night!
Operate on a full battery
Ensure your phone battery is fully charged. This may sound obvious, but it can be easily overlooked in the midst of packing and trying to organise everything else. If you have an in-car charger, make sure this is handy on moving day. The last thing you’d want is to be uncontactable during the move.
Moving day is always a long day, even if you’re only moving around the corner and you won’t necessarily have time to obtain provisions on the day as it’ll be important that you’re on site. Pack food and drink for the day and it may be worth having takeaway menus a t hand as you’re very unlikely to be cooking on your first night.
Prioritise the precious
If you have items which are of particular sentimental value or small and of high financial value, keep them separate from the contents to be packed onto the removal truck. If it is feasible to travel with them in your own car and you would have greater peace of mind doing so; then separate them and pack them into your own vehicle.
Check your transport
This is particularly pertinent if you’re moving some distance. It is well worth spending a few minutes checking your vehicle over rather than experiencing a breakdown during the move, which would potentially cause very significant disruption.
