Communicating a Business Relocation to Clients

Jul 18. 2019

With decades of experience of relocating businesses of a variety of sizes from a number of different sectors, we understand that moving your business requires a lot of planning and careful consideration. One of these considerations is ensuring that customers are aware of the new address.

Here are a few hints and tips on things to remember when letting your customers know that your business is on the move:

Online listings; uniformity is key
Once you’re in your new premises, prioritise your online listings in directories with the new addresses. Keep the details for name, address and phone number unified; this is important for Google. Ensure your new location appears on Google maps and also on any maps, downloadable pdfs or directions hosted within your website. Don’t forget online review sites also.

Keep it Social
Announce the move and change of details on your social media platforms. Some companies follow the actual move through their social media, posting photos etc of the day itself. A move that looks well organised and professional reflects well on the company.

Advertising
Any advertising campaigns that are geographically deployed will need updating. For example, Pay Per Click campaigns that are set within certain geographical parameters of your premises will need amending if you’ve moved any distance. Don’t forget any adverts placed with other organisations either online or in print which detail your physical location, will need updating.

Industry Associations and Membership Organisations
Update contact details that are stored with any Chambers of Commerce, industry associations, membership groups or professional networking groups as they may not be aware that you’ve moved premises.

Open House
Depending on the nature of your business and whether you have face to face dealings with customers, consider hosting an open house or opening ceremony on the new premises once you’re in, unpacked and settled. This is a potentially really effective way of building relationships with existing and new clients and having them engage with your company.
