With more than 500 guests packed into the Black Country Chamber of Commerce awards evening at Wolverhampton Holiday Inn at Dunstall Racecourse, Burke Bros Moving Group were one of the final nominees for the ‘Family Business of the Year’ award for 2022. The only removals and storage company amongst the nominees.
They only just lost out to a third generation engineering company. As Gary Burke, Managing Director explains; “as a service company it is always quite difficult to compete in the industrial heart of the UK against companies with multiple generations and history coming from the heart and birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. We’ve won the ‘Service Provider of the Year’ Award in previous years, but appreciate that we can’t win everything. We were pleased to have this recognition, particularly in our 40th year and to be in the shortlist for one of the main three business awards for 2022.”
The evening saw the great and the good of the business world collecting awards during the four hour award presentation by TV presenter, Des Coleman.
The ‘Family Business of the Year’ award category was open to applicants where the business is actively managed by members of the family. Finalists have demonstrated how the business has grown, plans for the future and how the values of the family contribute to the business’ success.
