With years of experience as an international removals company, we understand the complexities involved in moving overseas. Our dedicated team will manage every aspect of your furniture removals, providing you with peace of mind throughout the process.

The Removals to Canada Process

One of our experienced estimators will visit you in your home so we can accurately calculate the volume you wish to take and any of your packing requirements. Calculating the correct volume is key to a realistic quotation and the estimator can offer you some invaluable advice in preparation for your move.

Having an accurate quotation will allow you to budget for the cost of removals.  Our experts will provide you with a detailed breakdown of international relocation costs, ensuring transparency and clarity every step of the way.

  • All of our removal men are trained overseas packers and will ensure your goods are safely packed. Tailor-made crates can be supplied for items such as pianos, clocks and glass cabinets etc. After our packing services, your items are then ready to be loaded onto the shipping container or can be put into storage for any amount of time you require.
  • If you are shipping your personal effects to Canada, you may require a full 20ft or 40ft container.
  • We also offer part-loads or groupage containers, where you only pay for the space your possessions take up within a container.
  • We will arrive at your home to pack and wrap your items ready for shipment over a two-to-three-day period with the container being loaded on the last day and the inventory checked
  • The container will be locked, sealed and driven to the UK port.
  • We offer Marine Insurance on all of our international moves that is sufficient to cover your entire move.
  • This includes cover for the cost of your goods and the cost of the shipment itself, on all effects, packed by Burke Bros.
  • Your items can take on average between 5 to 16 weeks to be shipped for a full container and 8 to 10 weeks on a groupage container. Times can also vary depending on the final destination in Canada.
  • Upon arrival in Canada, one of our trusted agents will then take care of your goods and move.
  • In line with all countries around the globe; importing foodstuffs or plant materials in a household effects shipment is not recommended.
  • Such items may not be permitted and any special examination may cause delays and add inspection costs.
  • Canadian Customs reserve the right to carry out random inspections on any shipment.

How Long Do Removals to Canada Take?

On average, household effects can take between 5 and 16 weeks to be shipped to Canada if you’re moving a full household and require your goods to travel in a sole-use container.

If you have less than a full household and have opted for a shared load, in which you’re just paying for the space that your goods occupy, this may take longer.

You might have to wait as your international moving company will need to consolidate other loads to travel in the same container.

This takes on average, 8-10 weeks to arrive. These are approximations and are subject to several different factors, one of which is the final destination in Canada. Aifreight can arrive within days.

How Much Do Removals to Canada Cost

The cost of relocating from the UK to Canada can vary significantly depending on several factors, such as the volume of personal belongings, the distance between the starting point and destination, and the services required. On average, moving a three-bedroom house could range from £4,000 to £6,000. This estimate typically includes packing, loading, shipping, and unloading at the destination.

Additional costs may arise from optional services such as professional packing, temporary storage, and insurance. Air freight is a quicker but more expensive option compared to sea freight, which is slower but more economical for larger shipments.

Air Freight and Sea Freight:

Whether you opt for sea freight or air freight, we offer flexible shipping options to suit your needs.

With our extensive network, we guarantee timely delivery to your new Canadian destination.

We provide containers of various sizes (20ft and 40ft) to accommodate your belongings.

Visa Requirements for Moving to Canada:

If you’re visiting Canada for a short period, there’s no need for a visa. What you will need to arrange, though, is an Electronic Travel Authorisation before you travel. This remains valid for up to five years for travelling to Canada by air travel.

However, if you decide to move to Canada permanently this will require a visa. Here is a brief overview of the different types of permanent immigration visa’s:

Federal skilled workers (skilled workers are chosen as permanent residents based on their education, work experience and skills.)

Provincial Nomination Program (allows Canadian provinces and territories to nominate individuals who wish to immigrate to Canada and are interested in settling in one particular province.)

Canadian Experience Class (for skilled workers who have Canadian work experience and want to become permanent residents.)

Family Sponsorship (enabling adult permanent residents or citizens to sponsor a relative for immigration to Canada)

Business Class (designed to attract experienced businesspeople to Canada)

There are several documents that you will need to ship your items to Canada.

Living in Canada

Living in Canada offers a high quality of life with diverse cultural experiences, stunning natural landscapes, and a strong sense of community. The country is known for its excellent healthcare system, robust educational institutions, and generally low crime rates. Major cities like Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal are vibrant and multicultural, offering a wide range of amenities and opportunities for residents.

The cost of living in Canada can vary significantly depending on the city and province. Urban areas tend to be more expensive, particularly in terms of housing. For example, renting a one-bedroom apartment in central Toronto or Vancouver can be quite costly, while smaller cities and towns offer more affordable options. Utilities, groceries, and transportation costs are generally moderate, although they can add up in major metropolitan areas.

Canada’s climate is another consideration, with cold winters and varying weather conditions across the provinces. However, the country is well-equipped to handle the winter months, and most homes and public spaces are designed to be warm and comfortable.

Employment opportunities in Canada are plentiful, particularly in sectors such as technology, healthcare, and natural resources. The country also has a strong social safety net, including benefits like unemployment insurance and public pensions.

Overall, living in Canada provides a balance of economic stability, natural beauty, and a welcoming environment, making it an attractive option for many people.
