A great start to the month with another three of our drivers successfully passing their HGV driver training. Congratulations go to Lee Roberts, Tim Spilsbury and Brendan Radford on completing their HGV driving courses and have recently passed their HGV tests. Pay rise just in time for Valentine’s Day!
Both Brendan and Lee have been with the company for more than three years and Tim has been with us also for several years.
Gary Burke, Managing Director explained: “it’s very encouraging news that Lee, Tim and Brendan have gained their licenses. The opportunity is there for those that want to develop their skills within the company. Nationally, the existing HGV driver population is aging and there is not enough young people coming through. The removals and storage industry need to tackle the skills shortage to safeguard the future of the industry. We also realise that the cost of licence acquisition can be a barrier to those in the industry progressing into drivers. As a company we make the investment to develop reliable and knowledgeable staff who want to progress.”
Dave Colley, Operations Manager added: “We’ve already put many of our porters through licences to drive our small packing vans and continue to put drivers through their HGV class licences to drive our large multi-purpose road vans and it’s great that another three have been successful recently. The pandemic held us up with halting of driver training, but it’s good to see our crew members are making progress once again.” The British Association of Removers will be really pleased that we are continuing to train and develop our own people and hopefully other moving companies are doing the same to deal with the shortages in a busy industry
