The Wolverhampton to Aberdovey charity bike ride, now in its 30th year, will be taking place this Friday. Burke Bros Moving Group are once again pleased to be the official logistics provider for the event supplying storage and transport solutions. Our vehicles will be transferring luggage and belongings to Aberdovey and then returning hundreds of bikes back to our stores, where the bikes will be re-distributed at the end of the weekend’s fundraising event.
From it’s humble origins 30 years ago, when a few police officers rode the route and decided to raise money at the same time, the event now sees hundreds of riders entering each year. Around 500 riders are registered for this year’s ride, and all are raising money for whatever charity they chose (similar to the London marathon).
In 2022 the charity ride raised approx. £200,000 which was divided amongst 97 separate charities.
The event committee also have specified ‘official charities.’ This year these are:
Young at Heart, Avas Angels, Beyond the Horizon, Katharine House Hospice, Have a Heart, Katharine Allport Foundation, Wolverley Animal Centre, Shrewsbury Music Therapy, 4Louis and Hope House Ty Gobiath.
