How to Obtain a Quote for Moving to Cyprus

Jan 06. 2023

A professional removal company should be able to send out a surveyor to the property to perform an in-house survey, or if you prefer they can arrange to perform a virtual survey via a video-link. Both of these methods will allow the surveyor to ascertain the information needed to be able to generate an accurate quotation for conducting the move to Cyprus.

In particular, the surveyor will need to see the effects that you want to take with you to Cyprus and from that will be able to calculate the volume. This will determine how much room will be needed in the removals vehicles and in the shipping container as well as how many removal crew members will be required to perform the move and how long it will take. The amount of household effects you’re taking with you will also determine whether you require a 20ft or a 40ft shipping container. If you’re taking a full household of effects with you, you’ll most likely need the sole use of either a 20ft or 40ft container.

If you’re wanting to take less household effects, it maybe that you require a groupage service, in which you only pay for the space your possessions take up within a container and share the cost of the container with other customers. Bear in mind that this method can take longer as there is a period of consolidation before the shipment is in transit to Cyprus.

All of these factors will inform the cost of the move. The moving surveys also allows the surveyor to establish the nature of the access to the premises- in some cases this can affect the type of vehicles used on the move and also the time taken to load. All of these need to be taken into account.

When moving internationally, it is quite likely that the move involves putting your effects into storage. It is most probable that your move to Cyprus will also involve a period of storage. The cost for this will need to be included in the quotation. The surveyor will be able to take to you about how this works, but there is essentially there are two options, either containerised or self access storage. The containerised option will see your effects stored carefully into large wooden containers in a secure warehouse before being loaded into a shipping container on their way to Cyprus. Storing in self store facilities would be appropriate if you anticipate needing regular access to the effects during the storage period.
