Methods of Shipping Vehicles to Cyprus
Alongside moving household effects, many of our customers want to take their own vehicles abroad. This requires the services of an experienced international moving company who can deal with the shipment. It is important to acquire a quotation as there can be significant variation between moves. It is also well worth consulting an international mover as they will have knowledge of the required documentation and of the customs and requirements of the area in Cyprus you are moving to.
Some customers opt for a method of shipment known as ‘Roll On Roll Off’. This involves a vehicle being driven onto the ship at the port of origin and then secured ‘wind-and-watertight’ on the vessel. After arrival at the destination country port the vehicle will then be driven off and await customs clearance. This provides a cost effective method of shipping a car, but does require that the shipper of the vehicle be present to collect the car before the vessel arrives.
Equally, other customers opt for a shared container, in which the vehicle is shipped within a container along with either another vehicle or alongside other items. The vehicle is always securely loaded to protect itself and the other items in the container. This method still remains cost effective as you’ll only be paying for the space that the vehicle occupies. This method also means that the vehicle can be delivered to your new home.
There is also the option of a sole-use container, in which you are allocated a dedicated container. This is particularly useful if there are other household goods and personal effects you wish to also ship to Cyprus as you can then essentially fill the remaining space at no extra cost. The containers either measure 20ft or 40ft depending on the size of the vehicle and how many personal and household affects you wish to take with you to Cyprus.
